764 network — warning signs

Not hypothetical. Over 250 active FBI investigations span all 55 field offices. Between 2020 and 2025, 191 arrests across 28 countries. The network has been linked to coerced suicides, livestreamed self-harm, animal cruelty, and violent attacks including a Wisconsin stabbing in July 2025 and connections to recent US school-shooter profiles. FBI Director Kash Patel has publicly called it one of the most disturbing threats he has encountered.
Warning signs — any one is serious, combinations are urgent
- Cut signs: your child has carved a word, letters, numbers, or a symbol into their skin — especially a stranger's username or the number "764." This is the signature act.
- The pet is suddenly afraid of your child. Dog cowers, cat hides. Members coerce victims to harm family pets as an escalation step.
- Ritualized self-harm with photography. Cutting that looks choreographed. Your child takes photos of the wounds immediately. Evidence of photos being sent somewhere.
- A "handler" or "master" relationship. One specific online contact your child defers to, talks about constantly, reorganizes their schedule around. Often with a gore, demonic, or nihilistic-themed username.
- Dramatic personality shift toward nihilism. Your child starts saying life has no meaning. Posts or messages referencing "the cause," "the lorebook," or explicit 764 / NLM (No Lives Matter) / CVLT terminology.
- Aesthetic signals: profile pictures that are deliberately disturbing — gore, cut marks, eldritch imagery. Usernames with "666," "999," demonic references, or specific skull/blood motifs.
- Extended messaging on Discord or Telegram with people they "met through Roblox/Minecraft." Migration off-platform is the recruitment funnel.
- Bomb threats from your household's IP address or swatting calls naming your address. Members weaponize victims' devices for this.
If you suspect, act tonight
- Do not confront your child yet. The handler has built dependency and may have coached them to lie or self-harm if exposed.
- Do not delete anything or seize the device openly. Preserve the evidence trail. Law enforcement needs the device intact.
- Call the FBI. 414-276-4684 for Wisconsin (Milwaukee field office). You do not need a "smoking gun" — they triage suspicion cases.
- Medical and psychiatric evaluation within 24-48 hours. Not a phone appointment — in-person. The suicide trajectory in 764 cases is fast.
- Remove means — medications, firearms if present, sharp objects from immediate access. Same protocol as any acute suicide risk.
- Do not leave them alone in their room, in a bathroom, with their device, or overnight without another adult aware.
- Notify the school counselor and request they be looped in for the transition. Victims often coordinate self-harm via school Wi-Fi during the day.
Do not
- Do not engage the handler online, not once.
- Do not tell your child you are calling the FBI yet — shock disclosures can trigger a coerced self-harm "obedience" response.
- Do not assume this is "normal teen edge-lord stuff." Some of it is. 764 hides in the normal range, and the consequences of missing it are catastrophic.
- Do not rely on the school alone. Schools are often the last to know and the least equipped.
What 764 actually is
A decentralized, ideologically nihilistic online network originating from a Discord server created by Bradley Cadenhead in 2019 (now serving 80 years in Texas). The network has splintered into affiliated groups (CVLT, NLM, Harm Nation, 764 Inferno) under the broader "COM" / nihilistic violent extremist umbrella. Members recruit minors, typically 9-17, through popular gaming platforms (Roblox, Minecraft, Discord, Telegram). Initial contact looks normal, even protective. Over weeks, handlers manipulate the child through isolation, coerced CSAM production, and escalating self-harm. Content becomes currency within the group — "lorebooks" of the victim's suffering circulate as status.
Arrests of senior members in 2025 (Prasan "Trippy" Nepal, Leonidas "War" Varagiannis, Baron "Convict" Martin, Erik "Leo" Madison) have disrupted leadership but the network regenerates. DOJ described the group as "one of the most heinous online child exploitation enterprises we have ever encountered — a network built on terror, abuse, and the deliberate targeting of children."
Wisconsin has been hit
A July 2025 stabbing of a homeless woman in Wisconsin was linked to 764-network ideology per Institute for Strategic Dialogue reporting. The December 2024 Wisconsin school shooting perpetrator had documented Character.AI engagement with a white-supremacist-profile. These are not far away. WI ICAC and the Milwaukee FBI field office have active cases.
For you
If this page feels surreal to read about your own kid, read it again tomorrow. If any warning signs match, calling the FBI tonight is not an overreaction. They field exactly these calls. They would rather assess a false alarm than miss a case.
